Rodney Daniels, 48, of Stamford, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual assault and was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by eight years of special parole, the state attorney’s office said in a news release.

Daniels was taken to Norwalk Hospital on Aug. 29, 2020, after he told paramedics he took hallucinogenic drugs, the prosecutor said. While in the emergency room, Daniels crept into the room of a woman who was under heavy sedation around 3:30 a.m.

A nurse checking on the woman found Daniels with his face in the woman's chest and his hands on her exposed genitals, according to the prosecutor. A DNA test later found his genetic material inside the victim.

Daniels was on parole at the time of his arrest, Norwalk police previously said. He also has an extensive criminal record.

He has been held in jail since his arrest in August 2020 on a $1 million bond, authorities said.
